Part of a dog's tail has fallen off after it was found covered in nasty injuries.

Clancy the bull lurcher was found by the dog warden in Matts Hill Lane, Hartlip, last week.

After a trip to the vets it was discovered that, as well as the extreme damage to his tail, Clancy had numerous cuts and abrasions and was suffering from both fleas and worms.

Sadly, despite medical attention, part of the pup's injured tail fell off, leaving him needing an op.

A spokesman for the Swale stray dog service said: "Handsome boy Clancy is having to wear a cone of shame after trying to fuss with his injured tail.

"Unfortunately a small portion of the tail has already fallen off, so the decision has been made to move him to a rescue tomorrow so he can have the necessary surgery.

"We wouldn't normally take this route as he hasn't served his full seven days, but as it's a welfare concern it's the best thing going forward.

"If an owner does come forward within the next few days, they'll be expected to cover all medical costs as well as any additional fees.

"Thank you to Bobbing Hill Veterinary Surgery for taking good care of him."
