POLICE officers will go head to head with firefighters and asylum seekers this weekend in a charity football tournament.

Different members of the community, from local residents to the neighbourhood PCSO, will come to together on Saturday for a series of five-aside games at the Black Lion Leisure Centre, Gillingham, between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

The purpose of the event, run by the Kent Community Housing Trust (KCHT), is to celebrate the diversity in the local community in a fun and enjoyable setting.

The teams will include young asylum seekers and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

Police Community Support Officer Supervisor, Alan Beech, has put together a team of officers to enter in the tournament.

Mr Beech said: “I am delighted to enter a team for this event.

“The tournament will bring the community together in a friendly and fun environment and the team is looking forward to taking part.

“I am confident my team will continue with their winning ways and be a force to be reckoned with.”
