Pet cemetery could help boost council coffers

A pet cemetery is one cash-raising idea being considered by officers as Medway Council tries to find ways of meeting an extra £40 million in bills.

Pet owners may be happy but council staff may not be.

Other ideas under consideration include charging staff to park at the council offices and stopping automatic pay rises.

The council has to keep next year's council tax rise to five per cent or it will be in big trouble with the Government.
