Penenden Heath Road in Maidstone closed and person in hospital after two crash

A man has been taken to hospital after a two-car crash closed a busy road.

Emergency services, including the police, fire service and paramedics were called to Penenden Heath Road, Maidstone, at around 12.25pm.

The road, which runs between the shops at the bottom of Boxley Road and the roundabout to the motorway, was shut for an hour.

One driver was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

A fire service spokesman added: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a crash on Penenden Heath Road in Maidstone just before 1pm.

"Two fire engines were sent to the scene, and crews helped make the scene safe. Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service were also in attendance."
