Man and woman bailed by police after Maidstone Barracks railway bridge drama

A man and a woman arrested following an incident at Maidstone Barracks railway station have been released on bail, pending further enquiries.

Officers were called to the station on Wednesday afternoon following concern for a man and woman on a bridge over the tracks.

The station closed at around 4.15pm and a roadblock was put in place on Buckland Hill, while trains were suspended between Paddock Wood and Strood as a result of the disruption, with buses brought in to transport passengers.

"One was wearing a pink hoodie and police were scrambling the minute they were off the bridge.

"It looked as if the people on the bridge had ran up Buckland Hill. A man was then escorted towards a police van."

The station reopened at around 6.10pm.
