Firefighters tackle blaze in Jenic Nails in Church Street, Maidstone

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called to Church Street in Maidstone last night when a fire broke out in a nail salon.

Firefighters smashed the plate-glass window on the ground floor room occupied by Jenic Nails and used a hose reel jet to put out the blaze.

The fire began around 8.15pm in the corner of the shop front near a plug socket. There was significant smoke damage to the unit but the rest of the building was unaffected.

No one was injured and the leaseholder of the building, who did not want to be named, said she did not think there were any suspicious circumstances.

She said Jenic Nails will be allowed to continue to operate in the upstairs space currently used by Church Street Therapy Rooms until repairs are completed.
