Gillingham FC chairman Paul Scally losing interest in hosting London Broncos

Gillingham chairman Paul Scally admits he has had no contact with the London Broncos since their match at Priestfield in June.

And it now seems unlikely that the Super League side will be making the switch to Medway permanently.
Mr Scally said: “It was a one-off game and it wasn’t a successful game in point of view of the score, certainly from Broncos’ point of view.

“We did a great job getting the crowd in that we did – just under 4,000 into the stadium – but I haven’t had any further talks about any potential Broncos move and I am not sure now that I am as excited about it as I was before.

“I haven’t pursued it too much, in fact I haven’t spoken to them since the game. It’s a discussion I am going to have with their chairman in the next few weeks.”

And Mr Scally, who previously looked at bringing other rugby clubs to Priestfield, has cooled on the idea of sharing Gillingham’s home ground with another outfit.

He added: “I am not as aggressive about it now because I am not sure deep down if it is the right thing for us.”
