Key faces spin or seam selection poser

James Tredwell hopes to keep his Kent place

Durham v Kent

KENT will select from the same party of 12 on duty in the win at Tunbridge Wells Festival Week for Tuesday’s Liverpool Victoria Championship clash with Durham.

The conditions of the ground in Stockton-on-Tees will dictate the final make-up of Rob Key’s starting 11 with the straight choice appearing to be the seam of Simon Cook against the spin of James Tredwell.

Historically the Teesside venue has been a seamer-friendly one, but the recent warm spell may twist Key’s arm toward sticking with off-spinner Tredwell, in which case Kent will name an unchanged team to that which beat Warwickshire by nine wickets.

Despite making an unbeaten 135 in Sunday’s Trophy rout of Glamorgan, South African born Neil Dexter fails to make the trip to the Northeast.

Kent have played once previously in Stockton-on-Tees, that back in 1999 when Min Patel inspired an away win.

Kent from: Key, Fulton, van Jaarsveld, Walker, Stevens, Kemp, Hall, Tredwell, O’Brien, Patel, Khan, Cook.
