Charlton fightback stuns Wednesday

CHRIS IWELUMO scored twice to climax a stunning second half fightback as Charlton retrieved a 2-0 deficit to beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 and register a first win of the season in the Championship.

The Addicks trailed 2-0 at at the break as Wednesday scored twice in the opening 15 minutes.

Skipper Burton O'Brien opened the scoring in the sixth minute and Tommy Spurr was given time and space to add a second in the 15th minute.

Charlton, who were booed off at half-time, responded by climing off their knees to score three times.

Skipper Andy Reid started the fightback when he picked his spot in the 52nd minute. Then Iwelumo took control.

He equalised in the 67th minute from substitute Zheng Zhi'sastute pass and then grabbed the winner with three minutes remaining.

The big Scot, who hopes his move to Charlton will coincide with an international call-up, said: "I'm just so pleased to get off the mark with some goals.

"The manager has told me that he believes I'll improve with age. Just like good wine.

"I hope he's right because I'll need to establish myself in the Charlton before I can think any further."
