Thieves strike as lorry drivers sleep

A NUMBER of televisions, including plasma and LCD screens, were stolen from a lorry while it was parked in a lay-by.

The Willi Betz lorry was parked at Ham Hill, Snodland, near Rochester, with the two drivers asleep inside.

The drivers awoke at around 3.30am on Tuesday and heard sounds. They challenged a number of offenders who immediately made off in a white Mercedes van.

They had slashed the side curtains on the lorry and stolen a quantity of the televisions inside. It is believed the property they have stolen is worth thousands of pounds.

The televisions are distinctive. They are made by ORION and have two pin plugs (European style).

Maidstone and Malling Police would like to hear from anyone with information about the incident and from anyone who knows where the televisions may be now.

Those with details are asked to contact DS Nick Sparkes on 01622 604283, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 – this call is free and confidential.
