Pensioner suffers serious injuries in road rage attack

A 71-year-old man was the victim of a serious suspected road rage incident in the county on Saturday morning.

The victim was at the wheel of a blue Nissan Almera which was being followed by a red hatchback in Eastchurch Road, Eastchurch.

A police spokesman said: "The pensioner pulled into a layby and the hatchback driver got out and he received serious injuries to his nose and hand after being verbally abused."

It happened at around 9.30am and the pensioner managed to drive to Sheppey Community Hospital at Minster where he was transferred by ambulance to Medway Maritime Hospital. He was said to be in a stable condition and his injuries are not life-threatening.

The attacker is described as a white man in his 20s or early 30s and he was of thin build.
