A MAN who died when his dumper truck plunged into a deep lake in north Kent has been identified.

He was Mark Anthony Wilkin, of Longfield Road, Meopham, near Gravesend, who would have celebrated his 46th birthday on December 19.

The tragedy happened at a quarry in Salt Lane, Cliffe, near Strood, on Wednesday last week. A post mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as drowning. An inquest into Mr Wilkin's death has been opened and adjourned.

The Health and Safety Executive is carrying out a full investigation into the incident.
