A GROUP of Channel Tunnel Rail Link workers were taken to hospital after inhaling fumes from a sealant used to waterproof a tunnel.

The 14 people had been working at a CTRL site in Swanscombe.

Emergency teams said the workers went to Darent Valley Hospital, where they were treated and released.

A CTRL spokesman said a group of workers had inhaled fumes from a substance another group were applying to the tunnel.

He said the substance was not toxic or harmful.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said crews attended the incident but were not required.

Ambulance teams were also called just after 12.50pm on Saturday.
