Biker in serious accident on hill

POLICE sealed off the main road through a Kent village this afternoon as emergency crews dealt with a serious road crash.

There were reports of at least one person being trapped in the accident which happened at Cuxton, near Rochester.

Firefighters from Medway were sent to the scene, the A228 beween Bush Road and Sundridge Hill, at about 2.40pm.

A spokesman for Kent Police said the collision was between a car and a motorcyclist. One person, believed to be the motorcyclist was seriously injured. The biker was trapped underneath the car.

Police at the scene stopped all traffic and pedestrians, including many schoolchildren, from approaching the accident on the brow of Sundridge Hill.

Large traffic queues built up on either side of the crash scene.

The police spokesman said:"There is serious congestion back towards Halling and road closures are in place at the junction with the M2, the Halling roundabout and Bush Road.

"We are not yet sure of the cause of the collision."
