Ebbsfleet midfielder Jack Powell capable of return to the Football League, says boss Daryl McMahon

Jack Powell can play as high as he wants to – according to Fleet boss Daryl McMahon.

The Ebbsfleet midfielder took his tally for the season to eight with a brace in last Saturday’s 4-2 win over Truro.

“Eight goals is exceptional from a central midfielder at this stage of the season,” said manager McMahon. “They are big goals as well, he scores great goals.

“He’s got that talent and ability and he has to drag it out of himself because he can go as high as he wants. He is a terrific player.

“He wants to go back in the Football League, of course he does. He is at a good age to and he is performing but he needs to keep on performing.”

Having been released by Millwall in the close season, Powell has found his feet again under McMahon’s guidance.

And the Fleet boss is determined that the 22-year-old, who made 10 appearances for the Lions, will be managed correctly from the sidelines.

“It’s my job to make him better,” said McMahon. “He has been through a period of people just letting him do what he wants to do and he won’t do that with me.

“I’ll do it with him, I’ll make sure that he is doing things properly."
