Drain unblocker poured over walls and ceiling at block of flats in Dartford

Drain unblocker was poured over the ceiling and walls in the lobby of a block of flats in Dartford.

Firefighters were called to Providence Place in Overy Street this morning.

When they entered the block they were hit with a strong chemical smell, similar to bleach.

The door was opened to allow the area to ventilate and a specialist officer who deals with chemical incidents was called to the scene.

Once crew member went back in with breathing apparatus and cleaned the lobby with a cloth and water.

The area was deemed safe and firefighters left at around 1:30am.

Kent Police have been informed.
