Courtenay Rangers produced a battling performance despite losing Dean Brabon to a 20th minute red card against reigning Herne Bay and Whitstable Sunday League champions Rising Sun.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, the underdogs gave Riser a stern test before succumbing to goals from Barry Robinson and Lee Austin.

Broomfield found the form that had them tipped for a top two finish this season by beating Swan and Harlequin 2-1 at home.

Danny Butler and John Atkinson were the scorers while Swan’s new signing Andy Parker opened his account.
