Simon Halsey has taken over as Herne Bay manager following the departure of former boss Barry Morgan on Monday.

Morgan, who was named manager of the month for October last week, stepped down after what was described in a club statement as "a fundamental disagreement over tactics and team selection".

Halsey, who was the assistant manager at Winch's Field, has taken over with immediate effect ahead of this Saturday's FA Vase second round tie at home to Flackwell Heath.

Bay chairman John Bathurst said: "This follows talks between (the club and Barry Morgan) over the weekend, talks which ended with a fundamental dissagreement over tactics and team selection.

"It left Morgan in an untenable position and he felt he had no option other than to step down as manager. Barry and the club part on good terms with no bad feelings and we wish him well for his future in football."

Morgan's final game in charge was the 3-0 defeat at Faversham on Saturday, the second time Bay have lost to the Lillywhites in the Bulmers Cider Kent League Premier Division. Bay sit fourth in the table, 12 points behind leaders Faversham with a game in hand.
