Cathedral roof project handed cash injection

Canterbury Cathedral has been handed a welcome cash boost from English Heritage.

£230,000 has been granted for the repair of the Howley Library roof, through its Cathedrals Grants Scheme.

Rochester Cathedral has also been awarded £123,000 from the same pot, for repairs to

Professor Sir Barry Cunliffe, interim chairman of English Heritage, said: "Cathedrals are some of our country's most imposing and beautiful buildings.

"The excellent craftsmanship demonstrated in these places of worship is something which we must strive to rpeserve for generations to come."
