Armed robber targets petrol station

KENT police are hunting an armed robber who snatched the contents of the till at a filling station early today.

The raider entered the shop at the Esso garage in Hythe Road, Willesborough, Ashford, shortly after 5.20am and made a purchase.

When the till opened he produced a knife and grabbed the contents. He made off on foot down Silver Hill Road.

Police say he is white, aged between 25-35, about 5ft 6in tall, of skinny build, pale complexion and bony face. He was unshaven, had dark eyes and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a light blue baseball cap, dark sporty jacket and jeans.

Det Sgt Fiona Mattholie said: “No one was hurt in the incident and the offender made of with a quantity of cash. We would like to speak to anyone who saw the suspect in the forecourt of the Esso garage prior to the incident, or as he made off down Silver Hill Road.”
